Trees in Conservation Areas

As Sneyd Park is an officially designated Conservation Area featuring a wide variety of beautiful and, often, very old trees, we thought it might be useful to share the following information from Bristol City Council with regard to managing trees in such conservation areas, including:

  • when to tell BCC of proposed works and how much notice to give before works can commence
  • how to find out if a tree is within a conservation area
  • which works can be done without giving notice
  • how to let BCC know of proposed tree works
  • the potential negative implications of carrying out works without giving notice, gaining permission to undertake works and, in particular, if you cut down, uproot, top, lop, deliberately destroy or damage a tree in a conservation area.
