SPRA Launches New Email Facility for Members

If you are already a Member of SPRA and if we have your current email address details, you will shortly be receiving the first of our SPRA email bulletins.

We will still be publishing our print-form SPRA Newsletter twice per year. However, many of you have told us that you would prefer to receive email news from us, especially for urgent and important matters, so we have obliged.

If you are not yet a SPRA Member do get in touch with us. It’s just £5 per year and you can easily pay by Standing Order.

If you are already a SPRA Member and think your contact details might not be quite up to date, do also get in touch and let us know so we can amend our records.

‘Save Water To Save The Trym’

A new community group has been organised to help residents within the Trym catchment area install water butts. Both practical and financial help is on offer.

Save Water to Save The Trym

The reason for doing this is to reduce the use of the 29 sewage overflows on the river. Other areas of the country have managed to reduce sewage discharges by installing water butts and slow releasing water over the winter (so that butts fill many times).

Please do contact Nicky Jones via the Save Water To Save The Trym website if you would like more information. They have also set up Friends of Sea Mills Meadows and already has some good news – the 11 hectares at the bottom of the Trym have got Countryside Stewardship funding, so this area will become much more nature-friendly and a good walking spot.

New Downs Advisory Panel (DAP)

Here is some news about the new Downs Advisory Panel (DAP):

Downs Advisory Panel {DAP}

The new group will be known as the Downs Advisory Panel and includes specialists and volunteers from a wide range of disciplines who will assist the Committee in the good governance of the Downs in the future.

If you or your organisation have or receive any concerns about the Downs or a Downs related question you can contact DAP by email or phone. We can deal directly with your query or forward information onto the Downs Committee.
