You may already be aware that there will be another festival on The Downs this coming weekend.
This is a different concept to the previous rendition, ‘Love Saves the Day’, which moved timing and location over to Ashton Court earlier this year.
The organisers are the same as previously, Team Love, who prior to covid, had run 4 years of successful concerts on The Downs, broadly, without issue until last year.
When such issues occur, SPRA will get involved, where possible, to reduce impact and possible conflict over the holding of such large events in what is, in effect, our ‘back garden’.
Therefore, do rest assured that SPRA has been working with Team Love regarding the coming festival to minimise the issues we have experienced previously. Several meetings have been held since last year to discuss concerns raised by residents and to seek solutions.
During this weekend, SPRA will be doing the following:
1. Holding a Saturday morning meeting with Team Love to meet the coordinator for the weekend.
2. Inspecting with the coordinator all security points which lead into Sneyd Park. Checks will occur on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
3. Steve Small, Chairman of SPRA, will act as SPRA’s point of contact with the coordinator and will be discussing any problems.
4. SPRA on Sunday and Monday morning will be inspecting The Downs and having further meetings with Team Love.
An evening event has been organised at St Mary’s for Saturday night and we believe some residents have booked to attend.
Residents who are driving, will be requested to show proof of address, such as a Driving license to go past security points.
If, you have any problems please report them to SPRA here. You will also find direct contact details for individual Committee members on the SPRA Newsletter printed copy.
Established in 1969, SPRA (Sneyd Park Residents’ Association) is a membership organisation completely managed and run by an unpaid volunteer committee of residents to maintain the character of the Sneyd Park area of Bristol, officially designated as a conservation area since 1981. To become a member and/or get involved, do get in touch with us for further details.
